After
we receive your booking request, we will respond
by e-mail, letter or telephone, offering you whatever
rooms are available for the appropriate time.
It will then only remain for you to confirm your
reservation by making a deposit of £50 -
£100. All major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard,
Maestro, Switch, Amex) are accepted, or you may
be happier to send a cheque. We in turn will notify
you of your booking reference after the deposit
has been received. Unfortunately, we cannot hold
rooms without a deposit, particularly at busy
times of year. Please note that under our cancellation
policy all deposits are non-refundable.

If you
wish to make a reservation, a non-refundable deposit
of £50 - £100 is usually taken, depending on the
extent and overall value of the booking. The deposit,
or credit card details, will guarantee a reservation.
If you cancel within 14 days of arrival date you
will be liable for payment in full for the rooms
reserved. If we are subsequently able to re-sell
the room(s), we would refund such payment, apart
only from an administration charge of £20
(GBP). More important, we very much hope that
you will not need to cancel! We strongly recommend
that our guests take out travel insurance to cover
unavoidable cancellations.
Important:
Your booking will be considered cancelled from
8.00pm on the date of your arrival unless we have
been contacted to inform us of your late arrival.

Once on Skye,
whether via the bridge or the Mallaig/Armadale
ferry, follow the A87 to Portree. From Portree,
keep on the A87 North-west out of Portree towards
Uig and Dunvegan; after 4 miles, at Borve, fork
left onto the A 850 for Dunvegan.
Follow
this road for about 10 miles and you will pass
the village of Edinbane at the head of Loch Greshornish.
A mile after Edinbane Greshornish House is signposted
to the right, 2½ miles down a single track
road. Just keep going - but please watch out for
the sheep, especially at lambing time!
If you are arriving by ferry
to Uig, follow the A 87 south towards Portree.
After 11 miles, at Borve, turn off right onto
the A850 for Dunvegan. Then as above.
How long will it take?
We are
a little over an hour from the Skye Bridge, an
hour and twenty minutes from Armadale, twenty
minutes from Portree, and forty minutes from Uig.
...and the problems with sat-navs?
Many
guests using sat-navs to get here have reported
they are sent to Mallaig, regardless of whether
the ferry is sailing or not! Unless you intend
on 'sailing your car over the sea to Skye' you
should programme your sat nav route via the Kyle
of Lochalsh. Alternatively, check the ferry times and book a sailing.

Greshornish House is approximately
3 hours by road from Fort William, 3 hours from
Inverness, 5 hours from Glasgow and Stirling,
and 6 hours from Edinburgh. Skye Bridge is an
hour away, whilst Portree and Dunvegan Castle
are only 20 minutes from us in either direction!

Yes,
mostly, but there are conditions. We welcome dogs
by prior arrangement, but ask that they do not
get taken into public rooms, nor should they be
left unaccompanied in rooms. Dog should bring
their own beds and towels! A nominal charge of
£5 is made. We do have our own dogs, but
they are kept out of the public rooms and areas
in the house used by guests.

Signal
strength in this area of Skye is very patchy,
and there are many places in which mobile phones
do not work. There is reception for some networks
in the garden and grounds, but not in the house
itself.

Guests are able to access the internet dial-up connection in their rooms, and in addition they can be given access to a Broadband connection in Reception if they have their own laptop. We do not have Wi-fi.

Smoking
is now illegal in all public
places in Scotland. Greshornish House is now totally
non-smoking.
Should
we find that guests have been smoking in their
bedrooms, we reserve the right to charge an extra
night's bed and breakfast without further notice.
This will enable us to carry out the additional
cleaning and fumigation necessary to bring the
room back to the standard that other guests have
a right to expect. We very much hope that this
will not be necessary.

The history can be traced back to 1250, when
the Greshornish Estate belonged to the MacLeods
