About Us
Neil
and Rosemary Colquhoun acquired Greshornish House in
2004. Before moving to Skye, their home had been on
the Ardnamurchan peninsula not far from where Rosemary
was brought up. They have four sons, two daughters-in-law
and two grandchildren - and a pair of labradors! Their
second son was married at Greshornish in May 2007.
Since moving to Greshornish House, much work has been
done to enhance the facilities consistent with the listed
status of the property. Guest bedrooms and bathrooms
have been upgraded and extensive interior redecoration
is on-going - as is the work being done to reclaim the
walled garden after half a century and more of neglect!
And
The Team
Greshornish
House has a small hard-working team of friendly and
helpful permanent staff who are assisted by regular
and seasonal staff - local students and overseas hospitality
workers, for whom they offer on-the-job training.
In the last five seasons our chefs
have all been local to the West Coast. Former Executive
Head Chef Mac Browning, now in his fourth season, heads
the team and is ably assisted in the kitchens by Whei
Shing, Christian and Calum.
Housekeeping and Caretaking is left
in the capable hands of Netta Gilbert and her husband
David , who has probably driven the single track road
more times than any of us, as he keeps us supplied with
the freshest of local produce. Netta is ably assisted
by seasonal staff and Fiona and Ewan can be found serving
meals to our guests in the conservatory or dining room.
Many thanks are due to Mariusz Niedzwiecki, one of our
waiters this summer (2008), many of whose photos are
now on this website.
