About Us

Neil and Rosemary Colquhoun acquired Greshornish House in 2004 after spending their earlier married life working in schools. Before moving to Skye, their home had been on the Ardnamurchan peninsula not far from where Rosemary was brought up. They have four sons, two daughters-in-law and two grandchildren - and a pair of labradors! Their second son was married at Greshornish in May 2007.

Since moving to Greshornish House, much work has been done to enhance the facilities consistent with the listed status of the property. The kitchens have been completely overhauled and re-equipped, a conservatory/breakfast room has been added along with better staff facilities, a number of the guest bedrooms and bathrooms have been upgraded, and extensive interior redecoration is on-going - as is the work being done to reclaim the walled garden after half a century and more of neglect!

We have added facilities for our disabled visitors, and now have no difficulty in accommodating wheelchairs in the dining room, conservatory and bar. Unfortunately, we remain unable to offer either a ground floor bedroom or a lift.

The larger dining room, formerly the Victorian kitchen, is now well able to cater for a number of non-resident diners. The Conservatory offers a sunny place for coffees, lunches, and afternoon teas - or a dry refuge in inclement weather!

Greshornish House has a small but hard-working team (some illustrated alongside!). In the last four seasons our chefs have been local - if not to Skye at least to the west coast. Colin Macdonald is now in his second season as Head Chef, and is ably assisted in the kitchens by former executive head chef Mac Browning, who has been a regular at Greshornish throughout the past three seasons.

The homely peace and tranquillity of Greshornish makes it an ideal venue for a weekend away or a special occasion. The additional space means that we can host functions for 40 - 50 people, (although obviously not all are able to stay in the house).

What better place for an executive break, or an exclusive corporate weekend?
